Helping hands

The gift of touch is among the oldest forms of healing ever practiced throughout the entire world.  Massage therapy is a natural, non-invasive approach to health & wellbeing.  A few of the benefits you may receive from a good massage are:

      • Tone & relaxation of muscles
      • Emotional balance & well being
      • Stress reduction & deep relaxation
      • Stimulation of the lymphatic system
      • Strengthening of the immune system
      • Stimulation of the circulatory system
      • Strengthening of walls of blood vessels
      • Increased muscle elasticity & flexibility
      • Promotion of correct spinal adjustment
      • Elimination of toxins & waste products
      • Pain relief, including headaches & PMS
      • Stimulation & balance of the nervous system
Most work is provided in a private studio constructed just for healing, meditation & relaxation.  On warm sunny days, you may choose to have your appointment outside in a private area.

There are many different types of massage.  Below is a brief description of the modalities offered:
  • Swedish ~ usually works the outer layers of muscles through different stroking, tapping & kneading techniques
  • Deep Tissue ~ focuses on chronic tension in muscles using slower, but deeper pressure.  Areas worked on may be tender to touch for a day or two after your appointment, but never bruised or sore to move.
  • Aromatherapy ~ essential oils extracted from plants are diluted in a carrier oil & applied to the skin along meridians during the massage.  They affect the nervous system directly through your skin & your olfactory nerves.  Aromatherapy & massage work synergistically to enhance the healing qualities of each other
  • Lymphatic ~ uses gentle application of pressure & stimulation along the lymphatic channels in an effort to stimulate the lymphatic system & eliminate cellular waste
  • Sports ~ may be a combination of Swedish & Lymphatic.  Pre-event massage may help warmup muscles & improve circulation while relaxing the athlete for improved focus.  Post-event massage can aid in removal of cellular waste (lactic acid) which may help prevent minor muscle aches & pains
  • Shiatsu ~ also known as accupressure, is the application of pressure along meridians and pressure points of the body in order to stimulate the body's chi or energy flow
  • Pregnancy Massage ~ uses gentle pressure to help relieve aches & pains that accompany the physical changes of pregnancy
  • "Stretchassage" ~ something I developed after years of practice & study of the human body.  It's best to wear shorts & tank top for this massage as your muscles will be worked in all sorts of positions
  • Seated ~ uses a specially designed chair so that massage is performed through your garments.  It can provide wonderfully quick relief of neck, upper back & shoulder tension at the office or at outdoor events, and makes a great introduction to massage!
I may use stones warmed naturally by the sun when available & appropriate for the work.  I do not use artificially heated rocks.  There is no additional fee for this service.

Although it should go without saying, I reserve the right to terminate service to anyone for inappropriate conduct.
